Duralumin
Duralumin is the alloy of miners in a hurry: it mines faster than steel, but wears out faster than iron. In real life it is an aviation alloy: mostly aluminum, with a little copper, magnesium and manganese.
Making it
It is melted in the foundry, with a heat 2 fuel (at least a coal): see the recipe. You need all four metals: see the ores. Magnesium and manganese need an iron-level pickaxe.
Tools and weapons
All of them mine at iron level. Shapes and amounts: the recipes.
| Duralumin | Iron (reference) | |
|---|---|---|
| Durability | 200 | 250 |
| Mining speed | 7.5 | 6 |
| Enchantability | 15 | 14 |
| Sword damage | 4.5 | 6 |
| Sword attack speed | 2.0 | 1.6 |
The sword hits more often (2.0 times per second) but less hard.
Armor
It protects like iron armor, but wears out fast. It is the easiest to enchant well.
| Piece | Protection | Durability |
|---|---|---|
| Helmet | 2 | 110 |
| Chestplate | 6 | 160 |
| Leggings | 5 | 150 |
| Boots | 2 | 130 |
| Full set | 15 | 550 |
Toughness: 0. Enchantability: 15. For comparison, iron has 15 protection and 825 durability for the full set.
Repair it at an anvil with a duralumin ingot.
