How to play
From the first ingot to steel armor, step by step. Everything is played in survival. To install the mod, see the home page.
Important: ores only generate in chunks created with the mod. Create a new world, or go to an area you have never explored.
Step by step
- Find tin and aluminum in stone (a stone pickaxe is enough), and Minecraft’s copper. See the ores.
- Smelt the raw items into ingots, in a furnace or a blast furnace.
- Craft the foundry at a crafting table: its recipe is in the recipes.
- Make bronze: 3 copper ingots and 1 tin ingot, with any fuel.
- With an iron-level pickaxe, look for magnesium and manganese (deeper) for duralumin.
- For steel, you need iron, coal and a very hot fuel (a coal block or a lava bucket).
- Craft tools, weapons and armor from the ingots: the recipes.
Good to know
- Pickaxe level. “Iron level” means iron, bronze, duralumin or steel: all of them mine at iron level. Magnesium and manganese need one.
- Heat. Each alloy needs a hot enough fuel: any fuel for bronze, a coal for duralumin, a coal block or a lava bucket for steel. A fuel that is too cool is not consumed. See the foundry.
- Recipes unlock as soon as you own an ingot of the metal (or stone bricks for the foundry).
- Fortune and Silk Touch work on the ores: more raw items with Fortune, the block itself with Silk Touch.
- Creative mode: everything is in the “Age of Alloys” tab.
Which alloy to pick?
- Bronze: the easiest to get and sturdy, with more than twice the durability of iron.
- Duralumin: the tool of miners in a hurry, which mines the fastest but wears out fast, and has the best enchantability.
- Steel: the best, just below diamond, but it needs the hottest fuel.
The comparison numbers are in the items.
